Stepping into the unknown... Did you know Colorado Stepping into the unknown... Did you know Colorado has ice caves? 🧊

This was probably the shortest hike with the biggest reward we’ve ever been on 🙌 About 4 minutes after we left the car we stepped into this incredible ice cave made by a frozen waterfall!

The ground was entirely covered with a layer of water overtop of the ice, and the kids were so glad to have crampons on so they weren’t continually falling on their faces while they played 🤪 (Not one single person who came to the cave while we were there had spikes on, and watching them try to maneuver through the ice was both hilarious and terrifying!)
Do you plan special trips for your anniversary? 🍾 A long time ago Georg and I decided that every year for our anniversary we’d be in a new place on a new adventure 🌏

One year ago today we were on a Safari in Kenya, and this weekend we were in probably THE most opposite place on Earth 🤣 We explored ice castles and ice caves, played in the snow and planned all sorts of adventures for 2021 that we’ll probably not be able to go on due to COVID 🤪

I wonder where we’ll be celebrating next year on 1-23! 🎉
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. -MLK Jr.

One of the main reasons we travel as a family is to introduce our children to different cultures, races, languages, and ways of life around the world. Our main goal as parents is to raise kind, conscious, and curious global citizens that are accepting and loving to everyone, regardless of physical appearance ❤️🖤🤍🤎

In honor of Martin Luther King day yesterday we are continuing our conversations of racial inequality here at home in our own country, and how it is our job to fight that injustice every day using the privileges we were born with just due to the color of our skin.

It’s a monumental task to give a 4 year old, but she is mature beyond her years and she seems to be ready for the challenge. It gives me tremendous hope to see more and more parents speaking out about how they are actively promoting equality to their children, that one day MLK’s dreams of full acceptance and integration will be realized.

In the meantime we will keep taking steps in our own little family to help make sure the next generation is more accepting of others and educated on these issues than ever before ❤️
Our little jungle treehouse in Belize... 🌿🛖 Our little jungle treehouse in Belize... 🌿🛖

Before we left for our trip I asked Liv where she wanted to stay in Belize, and she unequivocally answered “in a TREEHOUSE!!!”... but she had no idea where I had already booked our stay 😉

Fast forward about a week later, we arrived at @sweetsongslodge in the middle of the jungle and she saw our treehouse for the first time... I think her eyes may have popped out of her head from excitement! 👀🤣

Such an amazing bucket list experience 🙌
This is my kind of Colorado. -5F outside 🥶 but This is my kind of Colorado. -5F outside 🥶 but 105F in the water 🤗 No better way to start the day!

(Save for later for things to do in Colorado!)

From all the hot springs we’ve been to around the world, from Iceland to Thailand, I’m pretty sure we found the prettiest ones right here in our home state of Colorado.

💧Strawberry Hot Springs is about 15 minutes outside Steamboat Springs.
💧It’s required by law to have 4WD/AWD PLUS winter tires or chains in the winter; the road to get up to the springs is ICY!
💧Reservations open on a rolling basis, one month in advance, and sell out quickly.
💧Entrance is $20 per person, regardless of age, payable at the gate by CASH/CHECK ONLY.
💧Due to COVID, entrance numbers are limited. Your ticket gives you 2 hours to soak which felt just right for us ❤️
Cheers to a 2021 that’s full of family reunions, Cheers to a 2021 that’s full of family reunions, hugs, human connection, and grand adventures near and far...

While we had to cancel plenty of our plans in 2020 (along with the rest of the world), we are so grateful that we were able to go on incredible trips to Kenya and Belize, and in between go exploring throughout the USA in our camper that we completely renovated (I still need to post a tour of it one day!).

Hoping everyone stays safe and we all make it through to the other side!

Belize is finally back OPEN to tourism as of October 1st! In 2019 almost 45% of the GDP in Belize was from tourism, so you can only imagine how catastrophic 2020 was for the people there, but hopefully things will start to turn around for them now🤞

For now the only way to enter is by air (through the international airport, BZE) and all land and sea borders remain closed.

There is no mandatory quarantine for tourists, however they DO require that:

-All visitors 5+ years old must present a negative PCR test within 72 hours of their original travel departure (if you don’t have a negative PCR test result you can get tested on arrival into BZE for $50USD);

-All adults must download a health app (to your phone, 3 days before your trip) with information entered on your location(s) during your trip (for contact tracing- super cool!);

-You stay in an approved “Gold Standard Hotel” (these have completed a 9-point certification process for Health and Safety). There are currently 414 to choose from all across the country, and more are continuing to be added along the way!

We felt so incredibly safe and welcomed the entire trip, and besides 5 other tourists (yes, a total of 5, and this is historically their “busy season”!) we were the only tourists we saw the ENTIRE WEEK.

Thank you, @muyonoresorts and @sweetsongslodge for an unforgettable trip, we will be back!
